Titel und Beschreibung Englisch Ammonia measurements in outdoor air in Austria. Ammonia is a nitrogen compound with various effects on humans and the environment. It mainly originates from agriculture. Until now, hardly any data was available for Austria on the level and distribution of concentrations in the air. In cooperation with the offices of the provincial governments and the BMK, measurements began in April 2021 in 20 areas at 75 measuring points. The report summarises the results up to the end of 2023 and compares them with values from other countries. The highest concentrations were observed in Burgenland and Styria. Medium concentrations occurred in Carinthia, Upper Austria, Lower Austria and Tyrol. The lowest concentrations are found at regional background monitoring sites.
