Measures for more sustainable resource use in Austria can also reduce CO2 emissions and thus contribute to climate protection. This synergy effect was confirmed using a model-based analysis in the areas of residential buildings and car traffic. Resource-reducing measures should therefore be implemented together with climate protection measures in order to achieve the most positive effect possible in both subject areas. The income rebound effect clearly visible in the macroeconomic modelling can be mitigated by comprehensive accompanying measures. A socially acceptable design is central to this.
