Titel und Beschreibung Englisch In Austria, 221,800 tons of textile waste end up in the garbage every year. Only 17 percent of textile waste is reused and recycled, the majority is incinerated. This is shown by analyses of the Federal Environment Agency on the generation and treatment of textile waste, for which waste types, textile components, industry origins and areas of use were determined in 2018. The focus is on old clothes, 44,697 tons of which were collected separately and around half of which were exported. Bottlenecks in the collection of used textiles due to the Corona pandemic in 2020 are also highlighted.
