Titel und Beschreibung Englisch Climate Protection Report 2021. In 2019, around 79.8 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent were emitted in Austria. This means that emissions were around 1.8% higher than in 1990. Compared to 2018, greenhouse gas emissions increased by 1.5%. The main reasons for this were higher steel production, higher electricity production in natural gas power plants and the weather-related higher use of fossil fuels in the building sector.
