Titel und Beschreibung Englisch The report describes topics and trends in environmental technology research at Austrian universities and non-university research institutions. It is based on the R&D surveys of Statistics Austria and additional research with the relevant actors. The sixth updated evaluation shows the data status in 2019. Compared to 2017, the number of R&D institutions relevant to environmental technology has slightly decreased to 228 in 2019. The number of people employed at the research institutions has decreased by 8.2% over this period and stands at around 9,500 people. This corresponds to 14% of the employees in R&D of all sectors of the national economy. R&D activities continue to focus on climate protection, energy, waste and raw materials or resources (circular economy).
