General

Responsible handling of personal data is a high priority for the Federal Ministry of Finance. We want you to know when we collect what data and how we use it.

We have taken technical and organizational measures to ensure that data protection regulations are observed both by us and by our external service providers.

In the course of the further development of our websites and the implementation of new technologies, changes to this data protection declaration may become necessary. Therefore, we recommend that you re-read this privacy policy from time to time.

Legal basis

The data.gv.at platform for open administrative data, which is provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance, stores and processes data within the meaning of the Austrian Federal Act on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of Personal Data(Data Protection Act – DSG) as amended.

As of May 25, 2018, the data is subject to the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data, on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation – DSGVO) as well as the Data Protection Amendment Act 2018 amended Data Protection Act.

Your rights

You are generally entitled to the rights of information, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, revocation and objection. If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or your data protection rights may otherwise have been violated in some way, you have the option of complaining to the supervisory authority. Personal data that you disclose to us

Data that you provide to us by e-mail will be treated responsibly by our specialist staff and will only be used in the sense and for the purpose of the application. You are free to decide whether you wish to disclose this data.

Personal data that we publish

As a matter of principle, personal data, such as in particular names, companies, addresses of parties to the proceedings, be they natural persons or legal entities, shall not be published. We have no influence on the data content, as the responsibility for this lies with the providers.

Server logs, cookies, analysis tool, user profiles

Each of your accesses to the data.gv.at is stored in a log file (server logs) for a limited period of time not exceeding 90 days with the following data:

  • IP address of the requester(s)
  • Request details and destination address
  • Name of the retrieved file and amount of data transferred
  • Date and time of retrieval
  • Message whether the retrieval was successful
  • Processing time of the request in microseconds
  • User agent used
  • SSL version used
  • Referrer
  • Version of the http protocol used

No personal user profiles are created.

On data.gv.at, the open source software Matomo is used to create visitor statistics. These statistics help to better tailor the Open Data offering to the needs of visitors. The statistics are publicly available at https://www.data.gv.at/stats/

The IP address of visitors is not recorded completely, but is stored anonymously in the format 192.168.xxx.xxx.

Disclosure of personal data to third parties

Data logged when accessing data.gv.at will only be transmitted to third parties if we are obliged to do so by law or by court decision, or if this is necessary for legal or criminal prosecution in the event of attacks on the Internet infrastructure.

For the purpose of responding to your inquiries, relevant excerpts of your data (in particular name, e-mail, address and contact data) will be transmitted to other federal offices if necessary for organizational reasons.

Furthermore, we will not pass on your data to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes without your express consent.

Links to websites of other providers

Our online offer contains links to websites of other providers. We have no influence on whether these providers comply with data protection regulations.
