Resource title and description in English Research and development in the field of environmental technology. The report describes topics and trends in environmental technology research at Austria's universities and non-university research institutions. As a basis for this, the R&D surveys of Statistics Austria are evaluated and additional research and interviews with relevant actors are conducted. The fifth updated evaluation is now available after 2018. Compared to 2015, the number of R&D institutions relevant to environmental technology fell slightly in 2017 to 231. The number of people employed at the research institutions, on the other hand, increased slightly during this period to 10,315. This corresponds to 17% of the employees in R&D in all sectors of the economy. R&D activities continue to focus on climate protection, energy, waste, raw materials and resources.
