Resource title and description in English Activities relating to the circular economy in Austria. The circular economy strategy ‘Austria on the way to a sustainable and circular society’ was adopted in December 2022. The federal states, regions and cities play a central role in transforming the Austrian economy and society into a climate-neutral and sustainable circular economy by 2050. The aim of this study was to provide an overview of the circular economy-related activities already being implemented in the federal states, regions and cities (provincial capitals and pioneering cities). The overview is based on desktop research and a survey at administrative level. It highlights the most important fields of action and areas of intervention as well as transformation priorities. This report summarises the research results and also presents selected special examples from the respective priority topics.
