Resource title and description in English UFP measurements at Vienna Airport. Since the end of January 2022, the Federal Environment Agency has been measuring the concentrations of ultrafine particles (UFP) as well as particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide in Mannswörth (transformer station) and Klein-Neusiedl to the north-west and south-east of Vienna Airport. The UFP concentrations (annual average values around 16,000 and 11,000 particles/cm³ respectively) are higher than in the urban background in Vienna and Graz and significantly higher than in Illmitz. The measurement results show that emissions from air traffic determine the UFP concentrations at both measuring points, and in Mannswörth also those from the OMV refinery. The UFP concentrations show almost no correlation with other pollutants.
