Resource title and description in English Air quality measurements and meteorological measurements. The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality measuring stations at which background pollution, long-range transport of air pollutants and air quality trends are recorded. The report shows the results of the measurements in 2019 and the development over the last 30 years. The limit values for particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as for heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were complied with at all monitoring sites in 2019. At most monitoring sites, the lowest pollution levels since measurements began were recorded. The target values for ozone for the protection of human health and vegetation were exceeded at all monitoring sites except Vorhegg. Ozone pollution in 2019 was close to the average of recent decades. The information threshold was exceeded at the Illmitz monitoring station in 2019.
